When forging out blades you need hardenable steels. In this set, we include steels that are relatively easy to forge and heat treat.
1070: This plain carbon steel has 0.7% carbon that performs well when oil hardened and then tempered. It also displays a nice hamon when differentially hardened. We include 2 pieces that are 1000mm x 60mm x 3mm.
5160: This alloy spring steel is great for bigger blades and easy to heat treat. It performs very well in blades that need to take some beating. We include 2 pieces that are 1000mm x 60mm x 6mm.
